Question
Hi my depo shot was due September 7 and i thought it was due the 23 of Sept. I called to schedule me a appointment with my doctor and they told me that i was pass due is there a possibility that i could be pregnant?

Answer
Hi Kimberly,

If you are more than 1 week late with your shot it increases the chance of pregnancy. So yes, there is a possibility. However, this does not mean you are definitely pregnant. It can take a few of months for you body to adjust to being off the shot, so there is a chance you have not ovulated. If you have had unprotected sex within the last 5 days you may want to consider the emergency contraceptive, Plan B. When you go in for your shot this week, you will be asked to take a pregnancy test to be sure before receiving the shot. Use a back-up method, such as condoms, for the first two weeks of the new shot.

I hope this helps. If you have further questions, let me know.
