Birth Control/Plan B

Question
My last period was August 9th. On average I have a 31 day cycle and I am 20 years old. My boyfriend and I had sex on the 19th of August. During this act of intercourse as my boyfriend was ejaculated he pulled out because he felt a broken condom.  Immediately we ran to the store and purchased PLAN B.
I took the first pill at 2:46am and the second at 2:46pm. About 7 days after taking PLAN B I experience sore breasts and some menstrual spotting, I called the PLAN B center and they said that was normal.
It is now after the 9th of September and no period. I have been experiencing all my usual symptoms of having my period (i.e. breaking out, very light cramping, and some irritability).
I am very scared that my period is late, though they said I shouldn't worry unless it doesn't come by the 16th of September.
What are the chances that I am pregnant, should I be as worried as I am?

Answer
Hi Liz,

Thanks for your question. I would tell you to try not to get stressed. That can cause you to be late for your period. I know that's easy for me to say but you just have to try to be calm. So are you saying that you are having symptoms of your period but no period or bleeding? I can't tell you the chances of pregnancy but if you took Plan B, there is more chance that you are not. But sometimes Plan B doesn't work. I would never have recommended Plan B because of risks and side effects. Sometimes women take Plan B and they are not even pregnant. Also, if you want to find a free pregnancy resource center in your area for a free pregnancy test, go to that same website or call 1-800-395-HELP. Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and we can talk more.
