Question
I finsihed the first pack of 'The Pill' on a Thursday, it is now Sunday and I am still waiting for my period to arrive, why is it taking so long? Should I take a pregnancy test?

Answer
Hi Lidia,

Your period can arrive at any time during the inactive pill week and is not considered late. Some women will get their period at the beginning of the week and others not until the end. The pill can also make your periods shorter, lighter, and will sometimes cause you to skip a period. Since you are new to the pill, your body is still adjusting to the hormones, which is also effecting when your period arrives. As long as you have taken the pill on time and did not miss any, you are most likely not pregnant. I recommend waiting to see if your period arrives. If you do not get your period by the time you need to start a new pack, take a pregnancy test to ease your concern.

I hope this helps. If you have further questions let me know.
