Birth Control/Partial Hysterectomy

Question
I am embarrassed to ask this.  If a woman has a partial hysterectomy (specifically, removing the uterus and the tubes, and leaving the ovaries and cervix intact)
Does she still have monthly periods?
thanks!

Answer
She'll have her same hormones but won't have periods.  If she still has some monthly bleeding, that means that part of the uterus above the cervix wasn't completely removed, which happens sometimes.  Most women with a partial hysterectomy will have no more bleeding.
