Birth Control/Switching BC... Can I be pregnant

Question
My last period was Jan 6 and I had my IUD removed on Jan 16. I started taking BC pills on the 18 and also had unprotected sex. Is there a chance that I could be pregnant? Should I stop taking the pills just in case?

Answer
Chances of being pregnant are very small.  The pill wasn't protecting you on the 18th, but you have some residual protection from the IUD.  I would keep taking your pills for now.  Since  you started the pill in the middle of your cycle, it wouldn't be unusual to have some bleeding before you get to the inactive pills, perhaps around the time that you would have gotten a period in early February.
