Question
I am a first time bcp user. I have been taking Modicon ( ortho 535) for 2 1/2 weeks now. Aside from the usual side effects i.e. bloating, headaches and spotting, I have experienced some unusual symptoms that might warrant some concern. Here is a list of my unusual symptoms.
1. 7 consecutive days of light spotting associated with abdominal aches ( similar to PMS pain)
2. dull ache behind my right breast. 2 non- consecutive days.
3. tingling sensation on front scalp. Another day, pain in the same region.
4. Lastly, the bottom of both my breasts hurt if I press into the tissue.  Both areas also feel lumpier than usual.

Thank you for reading this.  Pleas let me know if I should see a doctor soon.  Thankyou.

Answer
Hi Jean,
You're having more symptoms than the average user, but I don't think any are worrisome.  Many of these symptoms will resolve with a little more time on the pill.  If they aren't mostly gone when you've been taking the pill for 3 months I'd recommend a change.  Although your pills are considered low dose, there are others that are lower and that you may feel better on.  Every women is different, and sometimes it takes trying a few to find the pill that is best for you.
