Birth Control/Could I be pregnant?

Question
I had a baby 5 months ago. 6 weeks after having him I started taking the pill Levora. I took it for 3 months and I stopped taking them on Jan. 1,09. My last period started on Jan.6,09. My husband and I had unprotected sex on Jan.19th & 20th. Is there any way that I could be pregnant?

Answer
Hi Erin,

Whenever you go more than 7 days without the pill there is a chance that you can become pregnant. It is hard to say whether or not you ovulated this month. Ovulation usually returns 6-10 weeks after the birth of a baby. You do not say whether or not you are breastfeeding. If you are, then that can delay ovulation for several months. Also, it is possible that ovulation may not have returned to its normal cycle yet due to your body still adjusting to being off the pill.

Since you had sex within 120 hours of this message, you can still take Plan B, the emergency contraceptive pill. If you are interested in this, I suggest you contact your local pharmacist or clinic for advice. You can get it without a prescription.

Once it has been at least 14 days since you had sex, you can take an early pregnancy test. If it is negative and your next period does not arrive, retake the test to confirm.

I hope this helps. If you have further questions let me know.
