Question I have been taking Loestrin 24 for the past 5 years. Every 3 months I would have a light flow period that lasted no more than 2-3 days at the most. A few weeks ago I had a delay through my doctor to get a refill for it and therefore was off of it for about a week and a half. I started back taking the pills approximately 2 to 2 1/2 weeks ago. This past Tuesday I started what I am assuming to be a period with more bleeding than I was used to before the pill and heavy cramping. Is this normal when basically re-starting the pill or not? I also feel like I have the urge to urinate frequently? Could this also be a sign of a UTI and could a UTI make you bleed similar to a period?
Answer Hi Lula,
Thanks for your question. I really can't tell you over the internet what is the problem or what your diagnosis would be. You will have to see your doctor. Yes, you can have abnormalities if you didn't have the pill and then went back. The birth control pills have hormones and I don't recommend any kind of hormonal birth control method. But the urge to urinate could be from something else, like an infection but I can't tell you for sure. Please let me know what happens.
You can email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and update me. Hope to hear from you soon.
Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
