Birth Control/IUD

Question
I am scheduled to have my mirena IUD removed soon.  I asked my doctor if I could over-lap with BCP so I didn't have to play the waiting game for sexual activity until the BCP was effective.  Will I have a period while taking the BCP even though I still have my IUD?

Answer
Andrea,

What happened with your situation? Did you have the Mirena IUD removed yet? It should be ok to overlap the birth control methods. However, I don't recommend any kind of hormonal birth control methods. Did you have any problems with the Mirena? Why are you changing over? Just curious. I'm not a medical doctor so not sure if you would have a period. I can do some research, though, if you email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com
We can talk more through email. So hope to hear from you soon.
