Birth Control - Plan B

Expert: Norman Solberg - 10/5/2009

Question
I took Plan B.  My 1st period after is lasting for 14 days.  Had an u/s done & there's nothing abnormal.  Could this be caused by the PLan B pills?

Answer
I suspect there is something else going on.  Plan B often results in some abnormal bleeding, but 14 days seems like a long time.  Since you've had an ultrasound, I assume you've seen your doctor and had an exam also.  Since the bleeding has been going on this long, a short time (7 days) on birth control pills will probably get it to stop.
