Question
So I recently switched from Alesse to Yasmin.  I was on Alesse for 6 months then switched due to breakthrough bleeding.  I have been on Yaz for a month now and swicthed on day 5 of my period.  Last time I had unprotected sex was day 7 of my first Yasmin pack.  My question is this: can I be pregnant even though I have been on BCP for quite some time and started before my period week was over? I don't really have any symptoms but I was just wondering how likely.
Thanks

Answer
As long as you weren't off the pill for more than 7 days, you're protected.  In other words, if you started the Yasmin the same day you would have started the Alesse, you're protected the same as if you had continued the Alesse.  You can do a lot of variations with the pill, but the important things are that you be on the pill at least 21 days, and then be off no more than 7 days.  Best wishes.
