Question
Hi, this is long. I'm 17, i have a 7mo baby. I have been on the depo provera shot for six months now. The second shot i got was at the beginning of august and i got really sick from it. I have also been on what i think is my menstrual cycle for the past two and a half weeks, it's been brown pretty much since the beginning but now its starting to look more watery than bloody. I have had very slight pain in my uterus area, and some fluttering(but that seems normal for all my menstrual cycles). I'm just curious if you would say i'm pregnant. just to let you know the last time i have had intercourse was about two weeks before my second shot and i got my menstrual cycle right after that.

Answer
Hi Brittany,
You're probably not pregnant, as long as you got the second shot on time.  Depo provera is very effective.  On the other hand, bleeding on the depo shot is very common, especially in the first 6 months.  If you have any symptoms of pregnancy such as nausea, breast tenderness, or fatigue, I would do a pregnancy test.  Hopefully the bleeding will stop soon, as there's not too much we can do about it except wait it out.  Just try to stay as healthy as possible (eat well, get enough rest, exercise).  Best wishes.
