Question
Hi,

I was on Trinessa and I had my normal period and started the pill again on the Sunday after like normal.  After 4 days of taking the pill I decided to stop because my husband and I want to get pregnant again.  Now I have bleeding that is comparable to a moderate to heavy period.  Is this ok or do I need to go to my doctor.  If it is ok, how long should I expect it to continue and can I consider this a regular period (so I know when I will ovulate)? I'm in no discomfort or pain.

Thanks, Jill

Answer
It's normal to bleed after stopping the pill.  Usually it would be quite light after just 4 days, but I wouldn't worry.  It's a little hard to predict when the next ovulation will occur after stopping the pill, but it's often in 2-4 weeks.  Once you get a normal period off the pill, you'll usually be back to your normal cycles.  Best wishes.
