Birth Control - missed pill

Expert: Norman Solberg - 11/2/2009

Question
Hi,
I'm on the Estelle 35ED pill and I'm in my second week of the active pills and i hadn't missed one before. i missed a pill yesterday and had unprotected sex last night. i took both pills this morning but i was wondering if i should get the morning after pill, just in case. Your help would be very much appreciated:).

Answer
Hello Kate,
As long as you just missed one pill and took it the next day, I don't think it's necessary to take the morning after pill.  It helps that Estelle 35ED is not a super low dose pill, and it helps that you didn't miss during the first week.  Pregnancy is highly unlikely.  However, in the future, try hard to never miss any pills.  Best wishes.
