Birth Control/stopping birth control

Question
Hello
I was on birth control for a year and a half. I forgot to fill out my prescription last month (October) so I went the whole month of October without it. I got my period about three times in October, each lasting about 3 days. They started on the 8th, the 14th, and the 20th. I had sex on November 7th and although we used a condom, it broke. I was just wondering if the irregular period and not taking birth control raises my chances of getting pregnant? Or if it will take time for my period to come or regulate since I stopped taking birth control?
Thank you.

Answer
Dear Brandy,

Thanks for your question. That is rather strange that you got 3 periods that month. It might have had to do with the fact that you weren't on the hormones from the pills as usual. Also, when you did have sex with the broken condom you could have gotten pregnant. Are you going to start taking the birth control pills again? I usually don't recommend any kind of hormonal birth control because of side effects and risks. What do you think you will do? I wish you would email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and we can talk more.

Hope to hear from you soon.
