QUESTION: Dear Dr.

I had sex with my girlfriend on 12th Dec., 09.  For protection I used double condoms. Her mensus were due on 18th Dec but did not start till today i.e. 30th Dec., 09.  Normally she feels pain in her back before start of mensus that she did also but the mensus has not started.  We are affraid that is she pragnent despite using double condoms. Physically she is very thin.  Shall I give her the POSTINOR tablets. If yes please advise dosage.

ANSWER: Jamal,

I am not a medical doctor but I was researching online and found that the postinor tablets have to be taken with 72 hours of intercourse. So it is too late to use this medication. Also, from my research, I found that Postinor is similar to Plan B or morning after pill in United States. There is an informative article about this at http://www.optionline.org

QUESTION: Since her periods were due on 18th Dec., 2009 that did not come I took her for the serum BHCG test on 03rd Jan., 2010.  The result is 0.100 mIU/ml. what is it? Negative or Positive.  The normal range for a healthy non pregnant woman is 0.00 to 5.3. Can you please clarify.
