Birth Control/NuvaRing/nausea

Question
Lately, I have been very nauseous. This has been going on for about two weeks. I wake up nauseous, and go to bed nauseous. I constantly feel like throwing up, but it never ends in vomiting.  I have been using the NuvaRing method of birth control very faithfully.  I have never had this symptom before while being on this type of birth control. Is it possible that despite using bc/condoms that I could have gotten pregnant? And also, I did just come off of having my "period."  Does this mean anything?  Does it matter when you are on birth control, since it is technically a "fake" menstrual cycle?   Also, is it a common symptom of this type of birth control? I have been on it for a year without these problems. I do experience the headaches from the hormonal adjustment when I take the ring out--but I'm not as concerned about those.

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Kelli,

You could be pregnant. Is it possible that you had the flu? Yes, you can get pregnant on birth control or condoms. Many women get pregnant this way. There is no birth control method that is 100% safe in preventing pregnancy or stds.

Also, you can still get pregnant anytime in your cycle. I did look up side effects of nuva ring and found this article. Very interesting.

I would advise you to have a free pregnancy test done at a local pregnancy resource center.
