Birth Control/2 months late

Question
I took plan b in oct.22 and i got my period about a week after. Then in nov. 30-dec.5 i got my period again. Now, i'm two and a half months late because that was my last period. It will be 3months late in about 2weeks but I've been getting symptoms like tender breasts, a little nausea and now cramping after an orgasm (which is a sign of previous periods that i will be getting it soon) but still i am WORRIED. I've taken 3 pregnancy tests and all negative. Could the plan b be the cause of this? Please HELP!

Answer
Hi Jan,

Plan B is a high dose of birth control pill so it can change your regular cycles. So it is possible that it is due to that, although it seems a bit odd that you are late now after having gotten a period. However, since you got your period at least once since the Plan B plus had 3 negative pregnancy tests it is very unlikely that you are pregnant, unless oyu have had unprotected sex since your last period. I recommend that you give your doctor or local clinic a call though to get things checked out. They can do a blood pregnancy test, which is more sensitive, to be absolutely sure, and check for any other medical causes for your late period. Remember also, that sometimes a period will be late for many different reasons such as stress, illness, environmental changes, weight changes, hormonal changes as we age, etc. So it does not mean it is something serious, but it is good to discuss it with your doctor.

I hope this helps. If you have further questions let me know.
