Birth Control/Breast soreness

Question
Hello,
I am experiencing soreness in my nipples and breasts about one week after my period and it continues until my next period.  So, basically I have soreness for 3 weeks out of the month.  Should I get my hormones checked?  What else should I get checked?  And what could really be causing this?
Thanks

Answer
I think the soreness is related to extra hormones or your body's response to normal hormones.  Extra hormones would be from taking hormones (like the pill) or if you're overweight.  Otherwise you're body is over reacting to normal hormones.  Stress and caffeine are 2 things we know may cause this.  Having your hormones tested won't be helpful.  If you're on the pill I'd switch to one with less hormone.  If you're overweight, losing weight will help.  Otherwise avoid caffeine and stress.  If none of this is helpful, I don't know what to advise.
