Birth Control/IUD

Question
I had a KUB just recently (022409) for location of my IUD

The KUB results state the IUD is in my pelvis. Am I going to need laprascopic surgery to remove it? Or is there another way? What about ct guided?

Answer
If it shows up on ultrasound they'll be able to see where in your pelvis it is, whether it might be inside your uterus or not.  If it's in your uterus they can usually remove it through the cervix, sometimes with hysteroscopy.  If it's outside the uterus you probably need laparoscopic surgery.  There are intestines lying all around it, so anything where they can't see it well could be dangerous.  I've never heard of CT guided removal, probably because it wouldn't work.
