Birth Control/nuvaring

Question
I am trying the nuvaring and just finished my first 3 week
cycle.  I removed it as instructed and right after I
removed it a large "mass of cells" (for lack of better
words) was expelled and about 2inches by 2 inches in
diameter.  I know what discharge is and this was not
discharge.  I am asymptomatic and started my period as
expected right after I removed the nuvaring.  I am healthy,
28, 120lbs., 5'6" and have one sexual partner, my husband.
My question is...could this have been a miscarriage?  If so
I didn't even know I was pregnant.  I don't know what else
this could be?

Answer
Hello Elissa,

I would advise you to call your doctor about this. It sounds to me like it could be a miscarriage but of course, I'm not a medical professional.

I would also recommend not staying on the Nuva Ring. I don't recommend any kind of hormonal birth control for women. In my opinion, it's not healthy for a woman's body. Please consider some non-hormonal kind of birth control if you need to be on it at all.

Please contact me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and let me know what happens.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
