Question
I have been taking the pill for 14 yrs and on insulin for 9 yrs. Since being on insulin I noticed my periods went crazy no matter which kind of pill i tried nut before the insulin i was right on schedule. Could there be a link to these two things.  Please help if you can. Thank you.  melinda

Answer
Hi Melinda,
As far as I can tell, insulin has no effect on the pill or the effects of the pill.  I wonder if it could be related to some change in your uterus that also occurred around the time you started insulin.  Has your OB/GYN investigated to see if you have fibroids or endometrial polyps?  Otherwise I don't have a clue.  I believe that female hormones can have some effect on insulin sensitivity in your body, and insulin needs can change during a menstrual cycle.  Sorry.
