Birth Control/stopping and then restarting birth control

Question
When I first started taking birth control my face broke out really bad (probably the worst acne of my life). I am thinking about going off birth control for awhile, but if I restart it a few months or more later, will I break out again like that?

Answer
Hi Michelle,

I always recommend non-hormonal birth control methods. If you go off the birth control pill, why would you want to go on again? Why not try something else, like Natural Family Planning, condoms or abstinence for a period of time? Do you need to be on birth control for preventing pregnancy or some other reason? Let me know by asking a followup question or emailing me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
