Birth Control/effect of getting off of yaz?

Question
We decided that we wanted to start a family soon so I got off my bc pill (Yaz) asap...in fact, I stopped taking them on monday of the third row of the active pills (I know, I should have waited til I finished the pack but I was excited!).  It threw me into a period on that thursday (March 26th) which ended on Sunday (March 29th).  That Monday (March 30th) we had unprotected sex and that Thurs/Friday (April 2-3) we had several bouts of unprotected sex.  I had a pinch in my side starting that weds and it didn't let up until Friday (April 3rd) afternoon.  I talked to a friend of mine about it and she said that since I had been on bc for so long, maybe I no longer recognized when I ovulated and she thought I should take an ovulation test. I took an 2 ovulation tests on fri and it was pos. Husband has been out of town for work so haven't slept together anymore since then.  On April 10th I didn't feel all that great, everything from hot flashes, slight temp (99 degrees) to slight crampy feelings like I was getting ready for my period.  I also had a mild headache and nausea.  This lasted through the weekend (April 12) along with some slight brownish and pinkish spotting, but only on the tp.  Everything but the headache and fatigue stopped last Sunday night which ended on MOnday (April 13).  This week I have had slight nausea, twinges in my lower abdomen (especially on one side), extreme fatigue, some dizziness if I stand up too quickly, sensitive teeth (strange but has never happened before), slightly swollen glands in my neck, bloating, uncomfortable & hot at night, and twinges in my legs at times.  I have tested for preg several times but they have come back neg...don't really know when I should be testing since I must have ovulated so early.  Is it possible I am pregnant or is this my body adjusting from the bc?  I have never had complications coming off the pill before and have never had abnormal cycles.  In addition to that, these symptoms haven't been consistent all the way thru.  The headache is gone, the cramps are gone, no spotting, etc.  Please help...dr won't test until last week of April as technically my period isn't due until the 23rd but am scheduled for surgery that week so need to know..

Answer
Hi Chay,

Thanks for your question. Yes, I have heard of side effects of going off the pill but I haven't heard of sensitive teeth before. I am not a doctor so wouldn't be able to tell you if you're pregnant. You can get the test from your doctor or another option is to get a free test at a local pregnancy resource center. You can find a local one at http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP. If you can't find one, try http://www.heartbeatinternational.org/worldwide_directory.asp

Please let me know what happens. I wondered what kind of surgery you are having. Would your doctor be the one who is performing the surgery? Please email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and put ALLEXPERTS in the subject line. Hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
