Question Hello. This is a semi long story, but I really need some help.
I was taking levlin (spellcheck) birth control for a long time and then they stopped making it, so I switched to levora birth control. I got through my first package just fine, then I started my second package.
I always start my pill package on Sundays and go 2 packages in a row before taking a period.
So, on Tuesday (of the first week of my second package) I had sex with my boyfriend and started bleeding a little bit. Then it stopped. But over the next 12 days I bled a little bit every day.
It smelt unlike my normal period blood and wasn't enough to even fill a panty liner.
After about 12 days it stopped altogether, so I though it was safe to have sex again. But about an hour afterward the bleeding started again and lasted for about 3 days.
I've stopped having sex just to make sure, and I haven't bled at all for about 5 days, but today there was some brownish discharge every time I go to the bathroom...
I'm really concerned, but I'm hoping it's just the switch in the birth control.
I'm not experiencing any other symptoms or pain...
Should I go to a doctor?
Answer Dear Kimberly,
I always recommend contacting your doctor whenever you have a health concern. You can always call first and see what they would say before you go in. But it might be wise to have a checkup.
I don't recommend hormonal birth control methods as hormones can affect your health and cycle. I agree with your decision to not have sex so you can find out what is going on with your body.
