Question
hi there. my GirlFriend had her period on 27th may 2009. we had unprotected intercourse on 2nd june 2009 & i gave her the morning after pill the same day after about 11 hrs of the act. her period varies from 28 to 30 days. and she expected her next period not before 24th june 2009.

problem is she had spotting(with drops of blood from her vagina) on 16th june 2009 which continued till 18th june2009 & then stopped. i am scared if it is a pregnancy or not & whether it is ectopic or not[she did not have pain in abdomen ]. what do i do & when should i get her tested for ectopic pregnancy &  for normal pregnancy???? we do not want any babies for at least another 4 yrs...

Answer
I think it's more likely that the bleeding was from the morning after pill than from pregnancy.  A pregnancy test usually won't be positive until around the time of a missed period.  If it should be an ectopic pregnancy, that also won't generally cause any problem before a missed period, and usually wouldn't cause bleeding 2 weeks after conception.  In any case, it's too early to know, and if she were pregnant, it's too early for her to have problems, other than a possible miscarriage.  The morning after pill also can make the next period late, so if that happens, it may not be from pregnancy.  She was probably not near ovulation when you had sex, and the morning after pill is very effective, especially taken early as she did.  If she misses her period, get a pregnancy test.  But most likely she's not pregnant.
