Birth Control/Changing Pills with a 7 day break

Question
Hey. I used to be on microgyn but my doctor recently gave me Femodene to use instead. I was told to take them straight away once i finished my last pill on the previous pills, but i wanted to have a 7 day break as i knew that i wouldnt be able to have my 7 day break in august as i will be on holidays. I've had my 7 day break now and have taken my 2nd femodene pill today. I won't be seeing my boyfriend until Friday, which means that I'll have had 7 Femodene pills by then. I was just wondering if i will be protected enough to be able to have unprotected sex or will i have to use condoms?? Its just that i've tried reading stuff online but they're all saying that i should have taken the new pills straight away, so i'm just a bit worried now! I'm only 19 and really, really don't want to have a baby so i just want to make sure that i will be protected before having unprotected sex with my boyfriend on friday.

thanks in advance!!

Answer
Hey,

Just to be safe, because you didn't follow your doctors instructions, i think you should use a condom when having sex. You're probably safe, but not following the instructions may have messed up your cycle, which could cause an egg to be released. Definitly use a condom, but after a few weeks it shouldn't be needed to wear a condom, but do it on Friday to be safe.

Expertise

I love questions on condoms, the pill, what to do if contraception fails, if you could be pregnant, obtaining contraception (Even without parental permission). I have a lot of experience with teenagers. One thing I don't know too much about is the IUD, but I'm working on it. I really do care about the people that ask me questions! I don't mind lots of follow up, and I like to know if things turned out okay. I'll be with you every step of the way!
