Question
QUESTION: me & my GF are sexually active.  her periods have been highly irregular for
last 2 months now{sometimes come in as short as 20 days to 2 weeks}.my gf
had her last  period on 6th july 2009 it was normal blood flow, not less than
normal.
if i suspect that it was implantation bleeding when can i test her & know that
the test result is thoroughly accurate?

or let me rephrase it: how many days after the start of implantation bleeding
will a HPT{home pregnancy test} give a sure shot result whether my GF is
pregnant or not ???

of interest will be the fact that we do not want any babies for the next 4 yrs.
and is abortion safe at 3 months LPT????

ANSWER: Hey,

It sounds like you are very worried.
Irregular periods can happen for a lot of reasons, including stress, and the body adjusting to the pill.
If you want to do a home pregnancy test, you can do it as soon as a period is missed. In the case of the brand First Response, you can get an accurate reading 4 days before the period is due.

Abortion is totally safe at 3 months, but later than that it can have complications, so do that test as soon as possible.

QUESTION: how effective is condom as a standalone method of contraception?

there was no exposure to semen or pre-cum; condom didn't break and
wasn't left inside vagina.  is there a need to administer morning after pill in
such cases?

and hey thanks for answering the last question....

Answer
Hey,

Condoms are 99% effective when used correctly, that means:
- Put on correctly.
- Not torn
- Lubrication is used

In that situation, the morning after pill is not needed, as the sperm has had no way of coming into contact with the egg.

You'll be fine :)

Expertise

I love questions on condoms, the pill, what to do if contraception fails, if you could be pregnant, obtaining contraception (Even without parental permission). I have a lot of experience with teenagers. One thing I don't know too much about is the IUD, but I'm working on it. I really do care about the people that ask me questions! I don't mind lots of follow up, and I like to know if things turned out okay. I'll be with you every step of the way!
