Birth Control - switching birth control brands

Question
Its possible but I am 16 years old and don't trust my doctor as much as the health center I go to for my pills that is easy to get to whenever is convenient for me. I also prefer that my dad doesn't ask why I always am needing to be taken to the doctors since no one in my family goes very often. It's just easier for me so I agreed to switch to Tri-cyclen lo.
One thing i was wondering is if it's true that you can get pregnant on your period. I have been doubting it but being 100% sure wouldn't be a bad thing.

Answer
Hey,

I remember being 16. I snuck out to my local family planning clinic, do you do the same? It's easy to get away with, I just said I was going shopping in town with friends.
Be careful, teenage pregnancy isn't fun, so don't take risks. It's okay to have sex at 16 (I'd be a hypocrite if i said it was wrong) but make sure you're safe.

You can get pregnant on your period, but it doesn't happen very often. There is no time that is 100% safe, which is why the birth control method of timing has about a 30% failure rate, so always use a form of birth control. A good method is condoms and the pill, which is about the closest you can get to 100% protection.
