Question
Hi! I've been on the nuvering for about 18 days and I had heard some pretty interesting things about it. Such as that woman are still getting pregnant on it. Should I switch or what?

Answer
Hey,

which birth control you use is a personal choice, and every option has it's benefits and disadvantages.
I haven't had much experience of nuvaring, but when i got your question i researched it, and it sounds like a good form of birth control. It has a fail rate similar to the pill, and like every contraceptive, if not used properly it won't work.

You need to make sure it is inserted correctly, and that it has not fallen out. Make sure you follow the guidelines given to you by your doctor.

I've read about the risk, and it doubles your risk of strokes and heart attacks. I think that if you're worried about it, you should change contraceptives. There are many good alternatives out there.

Expertise

I love questions on condoms, the pill, what to do if contraception fails, if you could be pregnant, obtaining contraception (Even without parental permission). I have a lot of experience with teenagers. One thing I don't know too much about is the IUD, but I'm working on it. I really do care about the people that ask me questions! I don't mind lots of follow up, and I like to know if things turned out okay. I'll be with you every step of the way!
