Birth Control/1st time on depo

Question
I am 27, non smoker, 5'5, 194lbs recently started exercising & taking folic acid daily. I was on ortho lo & on 8-25 I started spotting & was experiencing some cramping by 9-2 what appeared to be my cycle was full on & with major cramping the NP said it was ok it could mean that my pills were not strong enough. So on 9-4 she gave the depo shot & said I shouldn't bleed 4 more than 2 days. My cycle wasn't due until 9-7 but she gave me the shot because she said I was having heavy bleeding & my cycle was probly on early. During the day for 2 days I had no bleeding but at night I bled enough to have to wear a pad to bed. 9-6 there was no bleeding so I had sexual intercourse & I experienced bleeding. Will this happen every time or was it just too soon & should I still be bleeding since my period wasn't actually due until 9-7. Hopefully I gave you enough information to give me some much needed advice. Thanx!

Answer
Hi Shantay,

I'm not a doctor but I have been doing lots of research on birth control methods. I have also been receiving reports from women about the depo shot. I just received 2 reports recently that both of the women had very bad side effects from the depo shot and they don't recommend it. Also the hormones in it last for a long time even when you want to go off it. So I really hope that the bleeding will not last and it's because of your period.

So I really can't tell you if you will still be bleeding. All I can say is that you are having any problem at all, please contact your doctor. Don't let your doctor make decisions for you without doing your OWN research. Please let me know what happens. You can email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and put ALLEXPERTS in the subject line.
