Birth Control/Irregular periods and birth control periods

Question
Hi, I'm an eighteen year old girl and have been having my period for awhile. I've always had an irregular period schedule spanning from every month to every four months at random. My question is will birth control pills still be effective, and will I get my period during the placebo pill time? Thank you so much from reading my question.

Answer
Hi Jessica,

If you are irregular, I'm not sure if your cycle would be appropriate to use birth control pills. I don't usually recommend any kind of hormonal birth control methods anyway, so can't guarantee that the pills would be effective in your situation. I would advise a non-hormonal method. Since I'm not a medical professional, please check with your physician about this.
You may email me at DCHERYL51@yahoo.com and let me know how you are doing.

Sincerely,
