Question
After the birth of my first child, 3 years ago, I have not been able to get my
cycle regulated. It is nonstop when I am not taking birth control and it is
almost nonstop on birth control. I've tried several different birth controls and
am currently using the depo shot. But I'm still getting a period every 2 weeks.
I'm getting very frustrated and really just want a hysterectomy. Are they any
other options that may help me. (I've been diagnosed with PCOS)

Birth control pills are the best thing we know for controlling periods and bleeding.  If they didn't work, I would suspect something anatomic inside the uterus causing the bleeding, either fibroids or polyps.  Depo provera typically causes irregular bleeding for the first 6 months.  Then many woman have their periods stop.  Other possible options would be the Mirena IUD or endometrial ablation.  I think if you work with your doctor, a solution will be found.  If not, hysterectomy may be the best answer, but it is major surgery and there can be complications.  Good luck.
