Birth Control/merena

Question
Hi Cherel,

I just want to know wether this is normal or not. I have put in the loop (Merena) about two months ago at the beginning of August 2010. The reason why I put it in was because of the extreme pains I had with my periods especially the first two days and my periods last for at least a week if not longer.
My doctor recommended this and assure me that it will stop my period completely and the pains. It did stop the pains but I am getting my period twice a month now sometimes it just stops for a week than it starts again.

Besides the pain I have now more problems than before.

Answer
Hi Sandra,

Thanks for your question. I'm not sure if I would have followed the doctor's advice in this case. I am glad that you don't have the pain now but having a period twice a month is a concern. Have you asked your doctor about this? Also, what are the other problems that you are having? Please email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and tell me more about your situation. Hope to hear from you soon.
