Birth Control/Using morning afterpill & Birth Control, when to expect period??

Question
I boyfriend an I recently had sex and even though I am on birth control, his condom broke. the following day, approx. 15 hours later, i had taken a morning after pill. I had no side effects, and i felt just as normal as i did the day before. Now on my monthly pill pack of birth control, my last hormone (white pill) was the day after we had sex, and I then start 4 sugar pills (brown pills). I keep taking my pills everyday at the same time, but i heard that the morning after pill might delay your period for some time. So my question is, since my sugar pills are already taken and I'm back on my white ones, what can i do to make sure I'm not pregnant? I mean besides a test? If i take a test in a week, would my pills make the pregnancy test come out wrong? I really don't want to wait another month for my period to prove it for me. Right now is not the time for us to have a baby and we just want to be sure we're not expecting!  Thank you so much!

Answer
Hi Paige,

You really can't do anything that would ensure 100% that you won't get pregnant. There is just no birth control method that can say that.

Yes, the hormones in the Plan B can affect your natural cycle. I would not recommend doing that in the future. You can read an article about Plan B or morning after pill on http://www.optionline.org

So there's really nothing I can recommend besides not having sex at this time of your life. Any kind of sexual activity can cause pregnancy and/or sexually transmitted diseases.
