Birth Control/Light periods on Microgynon

Question
I have been taking microgynon for almost two years, and up untill now my periods have come everytime whilst on my 7 day break. However for the past two 'breaks' my periods have become very light, not bloody, but like brown smudges,

I am concerned as to what this means/is it normal? i have read on the internet that it is common for periods to diminish after prolonged use of the pill

Thankyou

Answer
You should probably go to your doctor and get a checkup. The hormones in the birth control pills can affect your normal cycle or periods. I usually recommend non-hormonal birth control methods if possible. Do you need to be on birth control at all? Let me know how I can help you.
