Birth Control/Scanty periods after consuming ipill

QuestionDear doctor,
On 7th mar I penetrated my gf for a few seconds but had a condom on. I withdrew and ejaculated outside her. She consumed ipill (an ec) within an hour of this act and had minimal side effects later that day.
She got her periods later around her usual date(16th mar), but her period duration lasted only three days and were scanty. The first day was light, second heavy and third very light. After that she experienced slight pain in her lower abdomen for a couple of days.
From 1st april she had no pain in her abdomen but on 7th april she experienced sudden pain in her back and right side of abdomen after eating dinner. Now she has no pain or discomfort. She has yet not got this month’s periods which are due. Can you please guide us on this?
AnswerSince you had a condom on, and ejaculated outside her, there is no real chance that she's pregnant. Emergency contraception can throw periods off and make them different. I don't know what caused the pain on April 7, but since it's gone it's probably not important. Lots of things can affect periods, especially stress. I would give it some time to see if her period comes this month. If not, consider a pregnancy test, but pregnancy seems very unlikely.
