Question
I have been on the pill for almost 4 years, 9 months ago I had a baby and i switched birth control. That pill made my periods irregular so I switched to Loestrin 24 a week ago.It instantly caused nausea. It begins as soon as i wake up and goes on and off through out the day. Its nothing extreme, just a little painful and annoying. This last Saturday I missed a pill, and then I had sex that night. Sunday I took two pills like instructed, and then that evening i found brownish-pink blood in my discharge. It only lasted an hour or two if that. Should I be concerned?

Answer
Brittney,

I wouldn't be too concerned about this but ask your doctor to make sure. I don't usually recommend hormonal birth control, which includes the birth control pill. There are side effects to each kind of pill so nausea will be one of those. Could you consider a non-hormonal method, such as Natural Family Planning or condoms? Let me know what you think. You can email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and I will email you back.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
