Question
My mom put me on a generic form of Loestrin birth control, will it still be as effective in preventing pregnancy? And this pack of pill don't have the sugar pills, so I'm not supposed to take them for one week, when I start taking them again, will I have to wait another week before they become effective?

Answer
Dear Kristen,

You can read the instructions for the birth control pill. The instructions should probably be in the box.

Yes, generic should be the same as Loestrin. About your waiting before they become effective, actually, you can become pregnant anytime on the pill. No pill or birth control method is 100% safe in preventing pregnancy so it's always a possibility. Do you really need to be on the birth control pill at this time of your life. I have been doing research and there are many side effects and risks involved. Please reconsider.
