Question
Hello, I am 21 and on ortho-tri-sprintx which is a generic brand of ortho tri-cyclen.  However I am wondering if birth control pills can prevent you from losing weight?  any ideas?  Thanks!

Answer
One of the side effects of birth control pills is gaining weight. How long have you been taking this pill? I don't advise any kind of hormonal birth control methods.

Here is some of the risks and side effects: Side effects may include one or more of the following:
-- nausea
-- vomiting
-- dizzy feeling
-- tiredness
-- headache
-- breast tenderness
-- abdominal pain
-- mood swings
-- early or late next period with irregular bleeding
-- weight gain
