Birth Control/Am I being stupid?

Question

Im worried about my birth control. Let me go ahead and give you all my history so you have a better feel of whats going on. I am 18 years old, was pregnant last summer before I turned 17 but had an abortion (I was against it). Finally got on some birth control. I was first on the Nuva ring but it made my legs hurt and my body week, so I went on a lower dose Kariva. I figured this will be better for me cause I am very sensitive to my heart and body (I am mitrovalvepolapse (I think I spelled that right)). Anyways, I have been on it for the past 10 months and for the last 3-4 months I have been missing my pills like crazy! I started my new job and just kept forgetting. I mean, I would forget weeks of pills and try taking them twice a day to catch up, only to forget again. Now im wondering if im harming my body this way because my body just doesnt feel right after a hour of taking the pill. Now for the past week and a half I've been trying to catch up with the pills taking them twice a day. Can I be overdosing? Cause they do say take twice a day if forgotten but I dont think they mean in to this extent. Or should I be okay because its karive? Please help me! Will this kill or harm me? And what kind of effects could I experience short and long term from my horrible pill taking!? Thank you so much!

Answer
Hi there! Don't know your name.

Thanks for your question. I don't recommend the birth control pill or any kind of hormonal birth control method. I have been doing research on the risks and problems of birth control. So no, I don't think it is healthy for you to be forgetting pills and then take them in a way to catch up. I feel that you would be putting a lot of hormones into your body and then not putting any hormones into your body. I don't believe that this could be healthy.

I would love for you to email me at CHERYL51@aol.com so we can talk more.

Sincerely,
