Question
HI ,
IM REALLY CURIOUS I BEEN HAVING THE MIRENA IUD FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS NOW , I WAS HAVING LONG PERIODS , CRAMPING , GAINED WEIGHT , LIGHT BROWN DISCHARGE ETC , BUT NOW IM GETTING PAIN IN MY BREAST (TENDER BREAST) I GOT 2 KIDS AND I DONT WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER CHILD RIGHT NOW IM ONLY 22 YEARS OLD , DO YOU THINK ITS POSSIBLY THAT IM PREGNANT OR ITS JUST ANOTHER SIDE EFFECT OF MIRENA ?

Answer
Dear Brenda,

The Mirena IUD can have many possible side effects. I cannot tell you if these problems are because of the IUD or pregnancy symptoms. You should go get a free pregnancy test at a local pregnancy center. To find a location, go to http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP.
If you are not in the U.S. then go to http://www.heartbeatservices.org and click on the globe in the upper right hand corner of the page. Please email me at let me know what happens. Please consider getting the IUD removed and possibly find another birth control method, if necessary.
Email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and put ALLEXPERTS in the subject line. Hope to hear from you soon.
