Question
I had the mirena iud for about almost 4 months and during the first 3months I was on the seasonique birth control pill for my periods well I just had my mirena taken out and my dr had me start on the pill again so I started the pill later that day an had sex that night could I possibly be pregnant since I started the pill that same day

Answer
Starla,

There is always a chance of pregnancy. There is no method of birth control that is 100% safe in preventing pregnancy. I'm glad you had the mirena IUD taken out. By the way, why did you have it removed? Just curious. I have heard many stories of side effects and don't recommend the mirena at all. What kind of pill are you on now? Just wondering, do you really need to be on birth control at all? I don't usually recommend hormonal birth control methods because of health reasons. If you do need a pregnancy test, you can get a free one at a pregnancy resource center. To find one, go to http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP.
