Birth Control/breakthrough bleeding

Question
I just started birthcontrol 2 weeks ago. No extending periods, or anything. Still get the periods once a month. I started bleeding. I'm assuming this is breakthrough bleeding. I was sexually active with my boyfriend a day before I started bleeding though, but like I said, I just figured it was my bithcontrol finally sinking into my system.so I was just wondering how long this breakthrough bleeding would last because I've been bleeding for 8 days now.

Answer
Bailey,

I really don't think the bleeding should last that long. Has it stopped by now? Hopefully, it has, because otherwise you need to contact your doctor immediately because that can be dangerous. Please let me know how things are going. You can email me at CHERYL51@aol.com

Hope to hear from you soon.
Oh, P.S. are you having any other side effects from the pills because I don't generally recommend a birth control method that is hormonal.
