Birth Control/mirena IUD

Question
I have a mirena IUD... My periods are usually clockwork with it.. i get it between the 18th and 22nd of each month with MAYBE one short session of spotting... For the past month (and not starting near the 18th or 22nd), I have had anywhere from nasty brown to bright pink spotting almost everyday. It ranges in flow from needing a light tampon to just when wiping. My last sexual encounter was mid august so pregnancy is not high on my worry list. Should i be worried that the IUD maybe came out of place or could it be that my period might finally be stopping. Ive had the IUD since february of 2011. Since i have had the IUD the periods have been normal "text book" periods. Thank you. Jessica

Dear Jessica,

I would advise you to check with your doctor about this. I can't diagnose over the internet with this information. You do need to find out what is the problem, if any. It could be a side effect of the Mirena or perhaps, like you said, something might have happened to the IUD. Please let me know what happens in your case.
