Question
Hello, I've been taking birth control for almost a year now. I'm always on time and never miss a pill. I am sexually active, and just recently experienced something that concerned me. I'm in my second week of pills (Sprintec) and noticed a brown discharge. It happened for almost three days, and I noticed today that I had discharge with blood in it. I also feel a slight pain, almost like when I have a period. I'm not due to have my period for another week and half, and was just wondering if this was normal? I have not had sex this month either, if this helps.

Answer
Hi Adriana,

Sorry for the delay. I've been sick with a cold/flu and got behind on my questions and emails.
So what has happened since you posted this question to me?

I can't really tell you what that might have been. It could be a side effect of the pills, implantation bleeding or symptoms of pregnancy. Or something else as well.

Did you have your normal period? And have you been sexually active? So let me know what information you can give me for analysis. You can email me privately at CHERYL51@aol.com

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
