Question
Good afternoon Dr Cheryl,

I am an Italian girl who moved to Amsterdam few months ago.
I would like to  begin taking the birth control pill: how can I do here, in Amsterdam? Do I need a prescription from my Italian doctor or can I also get it in another way?

Answer
I'm sorry for the delay on answering your question. Did you start birth control? Let me know if you still need advice. I don't normally recommend the birth control pill or any kind of hormonal birth control method. The reasons are because of risks and side effects to your health.

I don't know how you can get the prescription and I would suggest another kind of birth control if you really need to be on it. If not, avoid if possible because as I mentioned, the health concerns. Please email me at CHERYL51@aol.com so we can talk more about options.

Thanks.
