Question
my girlfriend started taking her ortho tri-cyclen lo on the tenth of february. this is exactly a week after her period ended. her last period was on the 26th of january. so she was about 8 days into this cycle. the doctor told us to wait a week before the pills started working but we waited two just in case. we had unprotected sex on the 25th of february which is almost when her period should start again. is there any way she could get pregnant?

ive been accounting different factors so but im still not a hundred percent sure we're in the clear.
she was almost done with her cycle. plus she had been on the pill for 2 weeks prior. however we didnt use the sunday start method.  are we okay?

Answer
You're OK.  As long as she had been on the pill for 2 weeks, she was protected.  I suspect her period will start before she finishes all the active pills, since she actually started about day 15 of her cycle.  If she has spotting, I would recommend she keep taking the pills one daily.  Things will get normal when she starts her second pack.
