Birth Control/Bleeding after sex

Question
Hi Doctor Cheryl
I have been on the birth control pill Yaz for 2 year now (I used Triphasal before that). Due to the fact that my period would stick around for months if I used the placebos, I simply stopped. This was working fine as long as I didn't forget to take my pill. Now for the last 6 months, I've been spotting whenever I have sex. Getting anywhere near orgasm is extremely painful - it feels like my whole uterus is being ripped out. Now for the past month or two I've been spotting if I do any kind of exercise and the bleeding during sex has become worse with a lot of dark clumps that will last for a few days. What causes this? Unfortunately I can't afford to go and see a gynae right now as I've just started on a medical aid and they specify that I can only see a gynae in November. If this is serious I will make a plan to go and see one. Can you please help me.

Thanks in advance for your help.
Anna

Answer
Dear Anna,

I think this is something that could be serious. So I would recommend going to a doctor if you save up enough money to go. Maybe there is somewhere where you can go for low cost or free? I don't think it is advisable to wait until November. This could be a side effect of the pill but is there anything else going on in your life that could cause the bleeding? Please let me know what happens. You may email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and put ALLEXPERTS in the subject line of your email. Hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
