Question
I'm 21 years old and have been on birth control for 5 years. Throughout those years I have been on many different brands of birth contro. I have been on Jolessa for a little less than a year now. The pill requires 3 month of no period with only 4 periods a year, but I have not been taking it that way and have allowed myself to go one or two months with no period and have not given myself the full 3 months. I do, however, take it on time every day. I last had unprotected sex in mid January (I have not had sex since). A week later I started my placebo pills and got my period. Then I started Jolessa BC pills for 2 months straight with no period. When I started taking my placebo pills again in mid March I had my period for only 2 days with only one day of heavy bleeding. Then I began my BC pill again for a month. Worried that there may still be a chance of pregnancy, I took two at home pregnancy tests, both which came out negative. I decided to take my placebo pill now (April) one month after my last very light period (in March). I should be getting my period and I have not started it yet, and I have not had any cramping to indicate that it may be coming. Is there still a possibility I may be pregnant if I got my period a week after I had sex in January, had one light period in between, and two negative at home pregnancy tests? I have not really had any pregnancy symptoms but the thought still worries me.

Answer
Krista,

From what you said, I would say the chances of pregnancy are small. But then I can't guarantee that.
Why are you still taking the pill if you are not having sex? I would think that would not be really healthy for you, whether you are pregnant or not. I would recommend contacting a pregnancy resource center and get a free test done there. To find one in your area, go to http://www.optionline.org or call 1-800-395-HELP. Or try http://www.heartbeatservices.org and click on the globe in the upper right hand corner of the page.
